...oh look, I'm blogging. *head desk* - lots of reading on assignment - am less panicked about it because there was magical extra weeks put in between me and the due date (ie. i had my weeks totally wrong) - really enjoying Lessig - Swancon data entry and reconciliation for 6 hrs last night - I love prk and chaosmanor a LOT. They are truly awesome. - Socialising and chatting and spending time with prk after waiting for maharetr to be done in the city, no mention of Swancon - we caught up on the rest of our lives together :) - Epic cleaning this morning, with the boys volunteering to help and as such we got a LOT done and my house is cleaner than it's been in ages. AGES. - Tuppaware party went well, there were shiny things, there were shiny people, and little shiny people, and it was a bit warm (sorry people - was trying to keep puppy outside) alas. I have yet to actually decide what -I- want to get. - For those who missed out on mine today callistra is having a party in the first week of may (she just blogged about it) :) If my other friend I asked doesn't end up having one, I'll end up rebooking to qualify for my hosty thing (not the super shiny I wanted but the consolation is not bad either :) - Too tired to move or cook after cleaning up, so ordered pizza. - Boys are watching Quantum of Solace. - I am heading bedwards to watch stuff, or bathwards to read stuff, then sleep early. - OMG so tired. *flop* Feeling... exhausted Compelled listening... Quantum of Solace in the background |

Wow. Two years of my life is ebbing. I'm elated. I'm sad. I'm relieved. I'd work with this committee again in a heartbeat. I love all of you I got to work with, in many cases I either hand picked you, recruited you or told prk to recruit you, and I delighted in seeing what I thought was possible truly come to life. You were all so amazing. It has taken me all afternoon to catch up on the backlog of my life, as you can see by how much I scrolled back through - this is also me scrolling past the community posts for the most part. Wow. Busy holiday period :P Many thanks to all of you who came along to Contact: Swancon 2009 this year, you all really made the convention and the two most consistent comments I've received are: * gaming was outstanding and filled with eager new faces as well as those who are familiar to the lure of a game. People felt invited in and loved being able to easily and without embarrassment learn new games. * the social nature of things being relaxed, very friendly and inviting. I spoke to several first time con goers, several approached me to talk to me about stuff they were enjoying or looking for. People going to swancon for ages commented to me how many people they'd met and spoken to that they hadn't before - both new people and just people that were fellow swanconners, but they'd never had the chance to chat to before. There were several highlights for me, of which I can barely begin to touch on given how tired I am right now: * My committee - all of them. Thank you for being so awesome!!! * My room mate babalon_93 who on Friday morning at 6am when I first woke up, snuggled closer to me, and said 'Oh you're awake! It's 8am for me, and I've already slept in 2 hrs, can it be cuddle time now?' Seriously, this was one of the most touching moments of the con for me. * The committee dinner at the end was also something I was glad I insisted on keeping as an 'optional' thing. Mainly because I thought it may be the first/only opportunity for our committee to meet and chat to the guests, and secondly by the Monday evening we were all going to be 'people' and not 'on show' and so the interaction between everyone was kind, and social, relaxed and informal - it was a bunch of friends going out for dinner rather than a formal affair. Also, the food was most excellent at Di Malaysia - William St, next to Aida and I may have remembered the name wrong. * kathrynlinge's Tin Duck win for the Swancon 2009 logo - YAY! I still love this piece of art! * Rebel Empire's demo - seriously amazing stuff. I am so PROUD of all that kae_dash has worked for with his group for the past months - they've been dedicated and tireless. The performance was the best choreography, performance, writing etc that he's produced to date - my favourite bit was the 32 person melee fight that was just so seamless it was amazing. The make up and costuming and characterisation that everyone put into their characters was amazing. I am extremely proud of K for inspiring people who would never have thought they could perform in front of a large group, to do so - and in such a physical and spectacular way. It. was. incredible. Well done beloved, and to aescapulius who has done most of the support work and partner-petting for this project of K's :) (this is why I love being poly!) * Wrangling TR into being nice to JW for the next 14 months as JW is the 2010 treasurer and thus must be cherished and supported :) The three of us are having a great deal of hilarity in this - as it's all based in love :P I'm just offering an opportunity for TR to express said love in a different way :P * Being voted onto the WASFF Board again. I reiterate my promise, to continue being your voice, your link and being willing to have the conversations. I will always do my best for you. * Slightly less harried parents, happier children enjoying doing things they were interested in - I got shown at least one picture :) I also enjoyed cuddling a certain baby who was the happiest grumpy 'i refuse to sleep' baby in the world :P He was so cute! One of the totally unexpected highlights: * RW awarding me the inaugural WASFF Chairperson's award, for contribution to WASFF and Swancons. This still hasn't sunk in, I'm still overwhelmed and shocked. This is for two reasons: 1. This is the only Chair's Award he'll give out, being the outgoing Chair. 2. He's been to over 20 Swancons, and been Chairing (or at least on) the WASFF Board for 7 years - and given the huge array of people who contribute and do amazing service to the convention, the Board and the community.... in all honesty I just can't quite get my head around, that he picked me. I am truly humbled and honoured. I truly love this community and it is important to me to be involved in the support, growth and making of the community, this space and this group of people as a whole will always be special to me - so thank you; for being you and inspiring me. Thank you to RW for awarding me, I am truly touched and will treasure the experience always. Btw, robshearman - you were missed! *big hugs* There's so much more - late nights and awesome conversations, new friends, old friends, panels and food and and and and... so much more. I already can't wait till next year! Feeling... i have no words Compelled listening... just the wind :) Define... # amazing conversations, amazing friends, community, fandom, love, moments to remember, sc2009, swancon, tin ducks, transcendence, wasff |

* Stressed and exhausted. * Uni assignment, that I might just have gotten my head around talking with K tonight. *prays* * Dinner with K tonight, amusing and love filled - we talked about him backpacking with me, and both made it to about 10 seconds before we burst into laughter. He conceded that he was akin to a 'precious flower' regarding backpacking :P * Love is K watching 'Ugly Betty' with me. * Love is me buying brazil nut chocolate on a hunch that K would really like it - he did! * Love is kittens, and melty looks of love and memories. * New Anne Bishop book - joy! * Work... urgh. I understand I'm creating the unhappiness, but can I get off it and let go of it? Apparently not. *head desk. rinse. repeat* * For some reason, I'm still in my phase of wanting to be Amanda Palmer when I grow up. Odd. * Salma Hayek is... just like the other mothers I know and revere. * I joined twitter, and am a little bit fascinated with it. * GoH dinner email will be out in the morning. * Swancon is awesome, and I cannot wait! * Have hit moments of countdown for visiting Melbourne again... this time everything feels completely different - in a really good way. * Was laughing at myself last night at 2am... I'm involved with 3 people, one of which comes with a bonus aescapulius, and I spend half my nights sprawled across my bed alone :P This is not a bad thing - I'm just really amused by it for some reason. * Time to say goodnight to the universe and let the breeze whisper lullabies across my skin. At the moment the only hard thing about Swancon for me, is that with all the discussion on ways things can be improved - there's no notice of all the effort the entire committee have put into following through on suggestions and discussions had very early on, things we continued from last year, things from the year before, and things entirely our own - I've had the privilege of working with a talented and dedicated committee, and it upsets me to think that their work and effort and shinyness is invisible because fans like to wank. This isn't very coherent to my mind, so apologies for that. ( rest below cut ) Now that I've spent too much time on this. Uni. Feeling... thoughtful Compelled listening... I've had a great one - hugely busy. Today was meetings, but the good kind where I got to appreciate our 2009 swancon committee again :) Then there was the programming meeting, and people were awesome and productive - plus I got to catch up with baby_elvis and appreciate the delightful 'ice cream cake' that R was making so gleefully! I'm a little flat tonight as I've been looking forward to seeing the boys again who've been busy with stuff and up at the other house for the weekend, and they didn't make it back here tonight afterall. A slight down in an otherwise great, but -very- busy weekend. Am now convincing myself it's bedtime, and wishing for cuddles. Thankfully, the puppy is obliging :) Feeling... tired Compelled listening... nil |

I've posed some questions, but haven't finished yet... am getting there!! I'm also slowly making my way through the answers - slowly, but I'm getting there!! Today I got to appreciate the continued awesomeness of my Swancon committee *hearts them so* I also did a driving lesson and I suspect that I now need to do them more frequently because I spent most of the lesson re-familiarising myself with it all, and only started to really get more comfortable and into it much later into the session, alas mine and prk's schedule hasn't been closely matched. Those of you who in the past have offered me lessons, I'd be very interested in taking you up on it now if you're still interested - comment and let me know :) Cam created a party on 'Chorewars' and I decided to run with it, creating a whole heap of chore 'adventures' and have proceeded to block everything I do. It's looking about how I expected, though I have to say that K has been home for all of an hour and a half since Friday whereas I've been mostly home and pottering. Tin Duck nominations will be coming out very very soon, as well as a whole host of other stuff. Wow, I am tired. Bedtime for me. Feeling... tired Compelled listening... nil |

I have the best committee in the world *is delighted* They are full of awesome. Today we introduced our Tech Coordinator (liberally lifted from a) last year's committee and b) angriest's family...) We have a whole lot of stuff gearing up for that headlong rush that is 3 months out. I am so glad to work with this amazing group of people. I especially love the new friends I've gotten out of it - or in a couple of cases, friendships that are deeper and better for the social combustion :) *bounce* ascetic_hedony took me out for a break from working with dinner and Twilight, which I was totally charmed by all over again, though him less so :P I am so lucky to have someone like him in my life. *beams* Despite me stressing about my exams (which you can't see but is going on frantically below the surface), I am still in a really awesome and happy space. The world is a shiny shiny place :) Feeling... cheerful Compelled listening... nil |

I am relaxed, and quiet and content. I am sleepy and about to go to bed early. This is a very good feeling. Last week was long, intense and extremely emotional. So was the weekend. The morning was reasonably low on coping and functionality. My Swancon committee compatriots however, are incredible, and much bbq-ness was achieved. Especial thanks to agoodliedown whom took on the bulk of the coordination and work for the catering, including ordering of food, shopping and budgeting. Thanks also to prk who organised the drinks and ice, and to black_samvara who facilitated an awesome sounding programming discussion - I haven't heard the details yet, but am looking forward to it muchly. I also want to thank buoy_wonder, linstar and leahcim for doing the bulk of the cooking/reheating of food - the standing in the sun was greatly appreciated! My housemate madame_red_au made cupcakes which she shared with people, but made sure agoodliedown and I got one - which is just awesome! Finally, many many thanks for all of you whom came to make it the success it was! Currently I am trying to talk agoodliedown and prk into thinking it's a good idea to do another BBQ between Genghiscon and Swancon next year... Last but not least, many thanks for people's care, patience and forbearance this morning given my not-coping state, I appreciate it a lot, as it's an unusual experience for me. * Meeting at early-o-clock was great. I love my committee so much. May have just recruited people for exciting things that they will do far better than us :P * Many announcements and more info and a PR coming soon. * BBQ is next Sunday morning - if you haven't already rsvp'd and you'd like to come, please comment or email me. * Jack's b'day party was relaxing and filled with people I love, and happy children on too much sugar. It was delightful. * I had wonderful, enthralling conversations with people. I love them so much. I am enriched by their wisdom, love and experience. I value it incredibly. * Met Cygnet! Yay!!! * I also took a stand today. It was hard, but important and I am still clear on my position and reasoning. But I am saddened and in some ways frustrated too. No more need be said. * I'm loving the weather, and revelling in the coolness of it before Summer hits in a big way. *whimper* I hate the heat SO much! * Now off to have a bath of Lushness, because Lush is so awesome. * My Enjo party is set to have entertainment!! leahcim will join 'Mittens' in the wearing of mittens on Tuesday!! I expect that there will actually be little focus on the Enjo, and more on catching up. But that said, I haven't come across anyone who has said it doesn't work, or works badly. If you can't come but would be interested in hosting something let me know. * Promised to have a tuppaware party sometime in the near future for a friend of mine, but don't think I'll get it in before January. And now, bath time. Feeling... tired Compelled listening... nil |

I'm sure that if John were writing this email he'd make similar comments about Genghiscon - so assume he is making similar noises and email him if you'd like to be involved in Genghiscon or find out where they're at with their planning for next year! I had the fortune to be able to attend a friend's business launch last night. Her business 'Under Seven Skies' is graphic design and fine art, and her intent is to make a living from something she is passionate about - incredibly talented in, under the guise of sustainability. I haven't yet worked out how to connect to art very well at this point. There are plans ot address this, but even considering that: her art is amazing. My favourite piece is 'The Love Tree' and alas I haven't got a spare $n to buy it - but I desperately wanted to. If there is a central tenet of my life it is 'love'. She has an amazing style - that I've now tried to write about several times, and still can't figure out how to use words appropriately, go and have a look at the website: http://www.undersevenskies.com.au/The launch itself was just beautiful, interesting and amazing people come together from many communities to celebrate and I loved the opportunity meet some of them. In particular I was ecstatic to be introduced to the person coordinating my foundation unit. Amusingly enough, about 30 mins before I'd been in the midst of a casual conversation gushing excitedly about how ecstatic I was to hand in my first assignment - which turned out to be for his unit. He appreciated my current love of and fascination in the superscript footnote numbers. (Also, the bit where 250 words is -nothing- why on earth would you want to use anything other than footnotes to reference it?) If anyone's particularly interested (and hasn't already had it foisted upon them) I'm happy to send you the final piece I submitted. I had some wonderful conversations, and found another recruit to my beloved's Jedi Boot Camp. And actually on Jedi Boot Camp, can I express how proud I am of kae_dash for all the amazing hard work he's put in over the past few years that has resulted in this culmination - this weekly workshop that people get to enjoy. I personally am completely star-wars'd out. Having said that, I never get tired of seeing peoples' inner eight year old coming out to play. It delights me. Sleep is taunting me at the moment, I had the very rare experience last night where I couldn't fall asleep. *fingers crossed* that it doesn't recur tonight. Also? I am busy right now. I am a little boggled by the sheer fullness of September and October. On my current plate: - Swancon 2009 (I'm still in love with my committee) We're starting to put together PR2, and also still looking into the next picnic and the Cosplay Day. I still need links to Cosplay games. Movie Screenings are still going strong - although the Melbourne Office for Reading stiffed us with times for Hellboy II which meant that the screening fizzled - our own local Belmont branch however? Still fantabulous - they cemented 7pm for me for Wall-E as I was ringing to cancel Hellboy. - Uni Still adjusting still figuring out how it all works. Utterly enthralled. - Femmeconne 3 weeks or so and counting! Also, I've picked up organising the bulk of the programme courtesy of Life tm being slightly interesting for the two main coordinators. I have the delightful neleh13 to assist me and you'll be hearing much from me over the next week or so with regard to what kind of things we want to do, where and how etc. I can't wait for this. - Margaret River Trip In the works, and omg I am counting down! - Wasteland II: Age of Iron cheshirenoir is still looking for people interested in being on the program, see my earlier entry related to this. ( Less PSA stuff... ) I have too much pent up joy, would that I could distill and pass it out to those I know and love in short supply. Feeling... ecstatic Compelled listening... Greetings all, Apologies for the late notice - I've been a little flat out with house, work and uni stuff in the last week or so. Having said that your next Swancon/Genghiscon movie screening is: Star Wars: The Clone Wars. From IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1185834/"As the Clone Wars sweep through the galaxy, the heroic Jedi Knights struggle to maintain order and restore peace. More and more systems are falling prey to the forces of the dark side as the Galactic Republic slips further and further under the sway of the Separatists and their never-ending droid army. Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan learner Ahsoka Tano find themselves on a mission with far-reaching consequences, one that brings them face-to-face with crime lord Jabba the Hutt." I won't actually be in attendance on Thursday night, but Genghiscon Convenor John Roberston will be hosting/organising - so please RSVP to him. As usual, we need a minimum of 20 people intending to go in order for it to go ahead. Stupid cold season. Woke up at 1pm from a three hour nap! *boggle* I now need to get dressed and get some grocery thingys and cold and flu meds so I can be at work tomorrow. And, my muscles are hurting from the gym last night, and I'm wondering whether going pushed this thing into overdrive or not -- I have no idea. I need to call the uni and my boss about uni too. Enrolled successfully last night. Murdoch's online process is not only fathomable, but reasonably user friendly. It all worked. I don't get the fee things though. But then I plan on having several a useful conversation with a couple of people from the uni today so hopefully it will all go to plan. Okay. Time to get dressed. *meh* I'll be at the movie tonight to btw, no home made tickets though, I'll buy something that i can use while I'm out. Feeling... sick Compelled listening... nil |

Hi all, It seems that there is reasonable levels of interest in seeing 'Wanted', and back in 2006 I did a Mr & Mrs Smith screening based entirely on Angelina Jolie and guns, so why not now? Actually, I'm totally looking forward to this as pure adrenaline based romp of guns, eye candy and improbability. Suspension of disbelief firmly engaged. From IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0493464/"A young man finds out his long lost father is an assassin. Hi all, This Thursday (sorry for the short notice) is the opening date of both Forbidden Kingdom (Jackie Chan and Jet Li) and X-Files 2. Given the expectation of doing X-Files 2 and that people have emailed me requesting a screening for Forbidden Kingdom, I've arranged with the cinema to do them back to back. The deal is, I need at least 25 poeple to make it worth the organisational time and not eating dinner on Thursday. If by Wednesday evening I don't have the numbers, I'll email out to cancel the screening. Given we've had a run of movies in a row I understand that people may not be up for another one - that's fine, but I'm giving you the option of having the screening. Schedule:6:45pm - Forbidden Kingdom (comes out approx 8:40pm) 8:45pm - approximate 45min break 9:30pm - X-Files 2 (comes out approx 11:30pm) Details:Movies: Forbidden Kingdom and X-Files 2 Time: 6:45pm and 9:30pm respectively. Hi all, Possibly one of the screen events of the year, the forthcoming screening of "Dark Knight" once again directed by Christopher Nolan and again starring Christian Bale as the Bat. This time also starring Heath Ledger as the Joker. Given how well "Batman Begins" went down, I expect this to be in the same vein of awesome. Come along and check it out for yourself! Link to IMDB: http://http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/OFLC Classification: M - Frequent Action Violence Details:

Also, final note: You MUST rsvp for this movie - opening night will be very busy and in order to make sure we get the best seats in the house, I need to keep the cinema updated on numbers, walking in late without booking may result in the cinema being full as the Belmont Reading will sell out the session we're booked for. I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't a dumbass comedy that I was expecting to cringe at the whole way through... ( just in case of spoilers ) I'm pleased I had a chance to see this, and am enjoying being pleasantly surprised about it. If you're expecting a comedy that is absurd with a side of 'wrong' from go to whoah, then you will probably be disappointed. (I wasn't, but those movies make my brain hurt.) Also, yay for having 64 people last night! I was expecting only 42 ish with the usual attrition - and unlike usual I only printed 6 extra tickets - usually this is too many. Last night it was not enough. I could have done another sheet of tickets at least and only just covered it. *boggle* The next screening is Dark Knight. It will be on the 17th and the time will be between 7-8pm if at all possible. I will absolutely need firm numbers for this given how busy the cinema will be. Just letting people who read my lj know in advance. I'm about to send a similar message to the swancon list. Also, icon love from memory this one's by nightingaledies... It's done, and dusted and over. Wow. I had one of the most amazing weekends of my life. I spent time with a woman who has changed the world, made it a better place. I spent time with another woman who gave up the opportunity to appear at the final wrap party for the series she's been involved with, in order to be here in Australia. And if that wasn't shiny enough... I met the people who put the supanova event together. I met the Joffre Street guys who do Cool Shite, I adored catching up with mdep again - it's always too long between chats! Also, this is the best chance we've had for catching up since I had her over here for Fandomedia :) I met F and M who are just amazing as far as guest managers go, and hot damn I aspire to be like them. I caught up with Jennifer Fallon again and really enjoyed chatting to her - and the hugs. She gives good hug. Met her Secondborn and dearly enjoyed the conversation and company... it was all just freaking amazing. I finally met DZ the event director, his best friend and right hand, various others of his family members - all there helping out, making it run, and it was so awesome! He was so awesome! I'm so deeply pleased to have been able to put a face to the name, and enjoy seeing him do his thing, and do it well. So very well. Perth Supanova rocked. We had more people through the door here than in Melbourne :) Also, it's not a once off - they're committed to coming back. They're pairing the line up of guests with the Sydney event which makes the break even a whole lot easier to reach as far as these things go. I'm amused that Perth Convention Centre continues to price itself out of the market. It was a great event and it was an incredible experience to see some of the way it works - I'd love to be more involved as a volunteer, it was amazing. It's also totally different to Swancon, it does different things, and there's a great crossover, but it's never going to be a replacement and they're not interested in doing that - they want to work with everyone, and have a community where everyone gets ahead, everyone benefits. It's not lip service either, I saw it in action. Bring on Supanova 2009! I am so very there! I learned so much that I hope to apply to Swancon as well, just minute things, comparison things, ideas and approach and appeal. It'll be interesting and very cool to debrief with my committee. I'm too tired to gush any more, but if you thought it was all about the commercial side, then you'd be mostly wrong, because there is a bottom line element to it - you can't bring A list guests to Australia and not be thinking of it on some level. But there is a whole lot more, it's a family run business, they're real people and they keep it down to earth and accessible and interesting - something different, and a little bit of something for everyone, also what an awesome array of sellers from over east coming over to Perth! Lots of new and interesting stuff I haven't seen before, and wished I had more spending money to appreciate. As it was my overspending on budget went to photos, a portrait with Nichelle Nichols, and autograph - because having the opportunity to freeze a moment in time with a woman who is so deeply amazing, utterly worthwhile. So inspiring. And one with Kandyse Mcclure - because she's a darling person and she's become utterly smitten by Australia and Perth. I can buy 'stuff' any time, but something to remember to very special women by... you can't just make that appear out of thin air, and I never want to forget those moments shared, and all the things I wonder and hope for and want to do, pouring forth. My beloved was in the cosplay and came runner up in the best individual overall section, which was incredible! He looked so pretty and was obviously having the most amazing time (while I was running around doing all of the above). I'm so proud of him! I spent heaps of time with the Swancon stall, and we had great success in talking to people and getting the word out there, I am feeling fairly confident that we'll get some very positive results out of it. Now to collate all the mass of the information we received. Also, kathrynlinge is worth a mountain of gold - the fliers and posters were spectacular hon, and you utterly deserve eleventy billion internets for doing such an amazing job! People were impressed and drawn to them and I can't stop looking at them! I think they'll be totally worth the cost of printing - even if that's wince worthy right this second. Many thanks to the amazing 2009 committee for weathering colds and honeymoon take offs in order to sit the desk and put Swancon out there to the Perth masses :) Feeling... enthralled Compelled listening... nil |

I've been a bit too negative for my tastes this week, so this is to let you know the good bits: * lovely weather * amazing boss * sleeping in on sick days * only having a 24 hr virus and not an infection * 140 people at Indi 4 * people at work not making life harder, some making it easier * seeing everyone at the movies - it was a huge lift! * Indi 4 - loved it to pieces! * Friday night group - the universe sees fit to allow me the opportunity to fall in love with a few people from my Friday night group on a weekly basis. I adore this and appreciate it. * Broccoli with dinner. * Amazing dessert baking by black_samvara * domestic goddess-ness on Wednesday afternoon of my sick day, including taking the vacuum cleaner head apart, cleaning it thoroughly AND getting it back together and working all by myself ^_^ * clean bedroom * Doctor Who 4.07 - Donna of awesome! Just delightful and adorable. Totally fangirl win. * 3 buerre bosch pears waiting for me to try a recipe on them * beautiful, seductive and sensual rain, must make a list like stephiepenguin * both showers in my house work, and BRB have received my complaint. * a very cuddly and adorable K who babied me on Tuesday when I felt sick, including making me hot chocolate and porridge and tucking me into bed. * my parents are here in Perth, I'll see them tomorrow :) * massage tomorrow - have been fantisising about this. Also, people interested enough that we might be able to entice him down for a regular booking. No need to travel all the way to Kinross (which would make me extremely happy). * KITTY MUFFINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi all, The social and fundraising screening of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is THIS Thursday night! I've confirmed the screening for 8:15pm. We're trialing a slightly later session time after people suggested that 7pm was slightly too much of a rush to get there, eat and be organised etc. Feedback appreciated. Due to the suspected popularity of the movie, if I could have your RSVP's by tomorrow night at the latest it would be preferred. The cinema is going to block out seats for us, and I'll be going on what numbers I have confirmed. Just to reiterate - it will be a crowded night and cinema, and I do need your numbers ASAP!Come along and appreciate a damn fine adventure film - with cheap tickets and great company there's nothing to lose! Bring friends, family even work colleagues - the more the merrier and all are welcome. Famed archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones is called back into action when he becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls. I've had one of those weekends where I feel like I need one to recover from it. Very full on. Very social. Wonderful evening at the House of B&D as usual. I love you all so much. And really, I adore that I just keep falling in love with several of you on something of a weekly basis. Utterly rocks my world. Saturday I did my STAT test, I'm hopeful, 3-4 weeks seems like forever. Now I have to work on my application for enrolment to Murdoch, and write my Personal Statement. Speaking with the course coordinator for the BA I want to do, she said that they will be really after my STAT test results, and unlikely to be interested in the inadequate highschool stuff. Saturday night after dinner (which was a simple beef casserole, that was nice but nothing special by my standards), I had a bath. I had a Lush bath of 'Floating Island' resulting silky water and slightly sweet and overtly relaxing scents. I had candles enough to read by, and my 'Vienna' melt by Dusk burning. I had coke, and tim tams, and the new Scalzi book, and for two hours, I was left alone to soak, read and pamper myself - I did a treatment on my hair. Blissful. Slept for not long enough, and not overly well as I'm now going into the 'getting used to new pillows' thing. Hoping my new one works for me, otherwise this could be a painful experience to find the right one both physically in my neck and shoulders and financially as good pillows are expensive. prk and maharetr picked me up just after 10am for madradish's picnic. We went by Rifo's in Vic Park for coffee, and picked up croissants, ham and cheese for breakfast. prk was awesome and did the bbq-melty thing with them and they were wholly unhealthy and delicious. Loved catching up with people this morning, by the time we got to Kings Park a little later than expected I was much more in a mood to be sociable, which was really nice. Also, I've been missing e_dan's cuddles and it was really lovely to lay in his lap for a while. I'm still utterly covetous of lady_niav's parasol, and splanky turned up this morning looking gorgeous, carefree and just... radiant, and it was just heart warming to see. Congratulations also are in order to emma_in_oz for the safe delivery of her DLB. I must do some cooking for her this week, although will need to find out how useful that will be re freezer space and stuff. Saturday afternoon I went to the WASFF meeting, and gods it was long, but it was largely very productive. On the surface it looks like WASFF only does Swancon - it's not actually the case at all, and even if it did, we're looking at stuff from the past, present and future Swancon's and actually that's a huge amount of work. Plus all the other stuff, which I'd ordinarily talk about some more, but I'm just too tired tonight. Ask me later. Also, long as it was, I cuddled up to T the entire time who is just endearing and lovely (and the co-chair of 2010 Swancon). He's gruff and blunt, and I just adore him, and have the utmost respect for him. Hours of cuddles, and given the weekend, gods it's welcome and appreciated. I could go the same again right now. ( Here's where I talk about the awesomeness of prk and my driving lesson and related thinky and feely things ) Okay, now I'm really done, I'm almost teary thinking over it all again - there's evidence of my tiredness. Emotional and teary. It might seem strange for me to be reacting so strongly but of the major fear and comfort zone challenging things that I've set myself this year, I've made massive steps forward in three of them. From memory there is 4-5 in total, but I can't remember off the top of my head, and I can't be bothered to go and search. - Put in complaint for house to the BRB - Did STAT test - Had driving lesson Doesn't sound like much when I look at it here... but gods! The emotional and mental work behind it.... time for hot chocolate, cuddles from my wonderful and supportive fiance, and an early night (possibly the finishing of 'Ghost Brigades' - the Scalzi book). Also, I have several new and very shiny icons made by crazypandabear that you should check out - like the one used in this post for no other reason but to show you. Wow.... what a day! Did test. Am hopeful. I don't think I did badly but if it make sense, I'm unsure how well I did. We shall see. black_samvara and maharetr picked me up, and we met ascetic_hedony for lunch. I had worse menu trouble than usual, though AH will be forgiven for laughing and not believing me given he experiences it more often and more consistently than most of the rest of you. No other such dispensations will be handed out :P Went shopping, bought stuffs, including finally a new pillow that I will road test *looking forward to this* Groceries, Dusk and Myer and now I'm home and filled with warm fuzzies from all your lovely and wonderful comments! Thank you so much for the support, it is very much appreciated! I shall let you know what the result is when I get it (3-4 weeks time). Now to cook dinner. *blah* No energy for it tonight. And to make tomorrow easier, I'm making callistra's 'Easiest Roast Evah' (unquote). My plan for tonight is to have a bath, read my new books, and veg a lot. Tomorrow I'd be doing more of the same, and part of me wishes I was, but I'm going to a lovely brunch first thing, and then to the WASFF meeting. Note to self: Pay for Slashcon. While you're at it, pay for Femmeconne. Also, if I was to have an impulsive and last minute Intimo, lingerie party which of the following dates would be better? Wednesday 21st May - 7:30pm (I expect it will go for two hours max). Wednesday 28th May - 7:30pm A weekend when Calli is free. Feeling... exhausted Compelled listening... nil |
